MRO applications and cases

Maintenance and repair operation (MRO) technologies examine the following cases:

  • New components that are currently rejected during manufacturing Quality Control: These include castings and machined parts which may be exhibiting cracks, porosity, casting defects, etc. This field introduces repair techniques for the reduction of waste in maintenance operations, which further contributes to cost-efficient logistic processes for the supply of parts.
  • Components that have suffered in-service damage due to wear, erosion, corrosion or impact damage: These may be able to be repaired and re-used. This field examines the re-use of components towards increasing their life-time.
  • in situ (on-site) repair techniques for worn/damaged/corroded components which increase both the cost-effective and environmental character of the related techniques.
