- Components that have suffered in-service damage due to wear, erosion, corrosion or impact damage: These may be able to be repaired and re-used. This field examines the re-use of components towards increasing their life-time.
- in situ (on-site) repair techniques for worn/damaged/corroded components which increase both the cost-effective and environmental character of the related techniques.
